This is the second week of my ‘Start A Web Blog’ and so far I have written this blog in a random way.
You have by now gathered that I am beginning my learning process of writing a blog and am a complete beginner at blogging.
I have been an Internet Marketer for some two years and have learned a great deal about this subject - Internet Marketing. There is much much more for me to learn. Internet Marketing is an immensely unlimited subject. One that has no ending and learning the ins and outs of Internet Marketing is an un-ending process.
I have built websites; have tried Adsense (http://www.Adsense-Making-Money.com ) & its relative Adwords.
I am selling eBooks online (http://www.SuperValueBuys.com ), with some success.
I have built my portal website (http://www.AshUmer.co.uk ), leading to all my online ventures.
I have formed an Internet Marketing Club (http://www.LondonInternetMarketingClub.com ), to establish a group of like-minded people wanting to learn how to make money online from their own homes, with very little capital.
My latest endeavour now is to enter the world of blogging (http://www.StartAWebBlog.com ), with the aim of learning how to blog successfully.
Here is hoping that many of you who are in the same boat as me will join in this quest of ‘How to Start Blogging Online Successfully’. The aim here would be to make some residual income while blogging.
Hence the birth of this blog, StartaWebBlog.com
Why did I choose this domain?
Why not just, StartABlog?
This latter was my intention but someone else had beaten me to this well sought after domain. Hence, I had to settle for a domain that was simple, straight to the heart of the subject and a phrase that I felt that was search engine friendly.
A Week after I had registered it and started the blog, questions started forming in my mind.
Why did I not do a keyword search for a more appropriate domain name? Why did I use the two word phrase Web Blog? Does anyone search Google with this phrase? Surely they would use Weblog and not Webblog?
Using the Google keyword tool, I did manage to find a well searched phrase; Start Blogging Online. I have now registered this domain; StartBloggingOnline and hope to make a transition to it later. Meanwhile, I will carry on with my original StartaWebBlog.com.

Ok now back to the purpose of the blog.
I felt that this blog, StartaWebBlog should be a good vehicle for all of us to start learning about blogging. How to start and what steps to take in order to develop this blog, gradually as time progresses.
As you have gathered by now, I have chosen the path to set up this blog by its own domain and hosting using Wordpress.
To accomplish this, I purchased a CD with reseller rights of some excellent videos. This set of videos is titled Wordpress Blogs Made Easy. The CD helped me to install Wordpress and set this blog.
I know there are many more enhancements to make; such as, change theme, the header, edit the sidebar, insert an optin (subscriber) form, and improve the layout; but I believe, the basics have now been set in place.
Please give me some suggestions and constructive comments.

If you are just a beginner at blogging then I suggest you use the free blogging sites such as Blogger.com or wordpress.com to start a web blog. These are simple and easy to use. They behave like your email client. It’s a good way to learn to write blogs and get a feel for what a blog is. This is the easy way for you to start a web blog.
If you then decide to take up blogging seriously, I would reccommend you buy a domain name , get some hosting space of your own and install the wordpress software.
Hostgator and Bluehost both have Wordpress and it is a simple matter of installing it on your hosting site.
Hostgator has tutorial videos, showing you how to install Wordpress.
The good thing about having your own domain and hosting is that you cannot get shut down and you can promote your weblog and domain name to your heart’s content. You can start blogging
knowing that you are never going to lose your domain as you own it and as long as you keep paying for it’s renewal (a very low price at that too!) you will always own it. When your blog gets insanely popular, perhaps can sell it for some millions of dollars! This has happened to quite a few blog owners.
Having your own domain and hosting is a path I stongly reccommend. You can then start blogging
to your heart’s content.
If you are not too technically minded and cannot understand how to register a domain name, hosting your website or installing and configuring Wordpress, then outsource these.
There are many, who for a small fee would do this for you, leaving you to focus on writing your blog and making money online from it.
If you google ‘outsource blog design’ you should get a fair number of places and people willing to take over the task of providing you with a turnkey solution. There are freelancers at limeexchange.com, odesk.com and elance.com who would be willing to set your blog up for you.
I would rather you learn these steps for yourself as there is no rocket science envolved and almost all good hosting companies such as Hostgator- and Bluehost- that I recommend They have simple easy cpanels and a helpdesk for you to use as well as loads of tutorials to guide you.
